GÄRDSHOLMEN - a genuine archepilago homestead

  Gärdsholmen is one island of about 5000 in the Tjust archipelago, Västervik. It is situated in a
 long narrow fjordlike bay of the Baltic Sea. The landarea of the island is just 25 ha with some
 small open fields and forests. The coastline are mostly rocky, but also contains some smaller
 sandy beaches.

 We are just 3 people living here all the year. We rent out cottages and boats for holidays, vacation
 and recreation.

 The area invites both experienced anglers and families to rich and varying fishing.  Already 5000
 years ago Gärdsholmen was used by man for hunting and fishing which is proved by artefacts of
 ceramics that was found when the cottages were built. Here you can stay, like man has done for
 thousands of years, with the sea as your closest neighbour.
